Location:   University Union on UW-Green Bay Campus 2420 Nicolet Road.   Tournament will be in the University Union.                 University Map: http://www.uwgb.edu/maps/  

Format:   5 round Swiss, Wisconsin rated. G30 or 25, d5

Teams for scoring purposes will be the top 3 players; students. No ½ point byes for this tournament.   No playing up at this tournament. Students can play only in their grade of attendance at school.

Awards:         

           K through Grade 8  4  individual trophies per grade; 1  team trophy  per grade and medals to all.

         Grades 9 – 12   3 trophies to top three winners and 1 team trophy and  medals to all.

No Grades will be combined for this tournament.

If 1 player in a grade then that player will receive the championship trophy and play byes in other grades during each round.

If 2 players then each the players will play twice, once white and once black.  If Tied after 2 rounds,   another  round will be played  until there is a winner.

If 3 players then the three players will play the other players twice, once white and once black for a total of six rounds.

If 4 players then the players will play round robing style and if any ties after 3 rounds ties will be broken with games in the 4 and 5th rounds and a 6 round if needed.

If 5 players same format but with 4 rounds, ties broken in rounds 5 and 6.

If 6  players then a normal 5 round round table tournament.  Ties broken by computer tie breaks.

With number of players 2 through 6 players from the same team will play each other.

If seven players and above  players will play with normal swiss tournament style pairings.

 

Awards: K through 8th Grade   Five  individual trophies per grade for grades  K –  8.  1 team trophy per division.

Teams will consist of 2 members or top 3 scores from the same school.

High School   Combined division with individual trophies to top  2 players in each grade.

Round Times:    1: 9:15 2: 10:45 3: 12:00 4: 1:15 5: 2:30          Awards:  3:45 or 4:00

For this tournament students can report to their section as early as 9:00 and begin to find their boards. Building will open at 7:30. Please check in to confirm your attendance by 8:45. Onsite registration available to 8:45. After that registration is for round 2.    Pairings will be posted at the scoring table for each division and at the end of each row in which the division begins. Chairs for parents of kindergarten and 1st grade players will be available. All other parents will be asked to leave just before each round begins.   Students, coaches and parents are responsible for players being present when the round time begins. Plan on arriving 10 minutes before each round to have time to find board assignment. When the last two players are done with each round the doors will open and players can begin to gather at their divisions.    All USCF chess rules will apply for this tournament. All pairing and te17. am issues need to be addressed at chess control.

Registration Procedures:  Register on line in advance by Feb 8th.     Entry fee is $12 payable on site if registered in advance.  Day of registration is $17

Volunteer by email and specify which job you can do, to volunteer@wisconsinscholasticchess.org. We will nAeed floor TDs, registrars, scorers and someone at chess control.

 

Supervision: At least one designated adult supervisor must be present at all times during the tournament to oversee your school’s team, or individual participants who are in K through 8th grade.
