Hosted by Regal-Rexnord! This year’s WSCF 25/26 Season Opener is scheduled for National Chess Day:
Saturday October 11, 2025
Location: 1051 Cheyenne Avenue Grafton, WI 53204
Four Divisions:
- K6U500
- U800
- Open
- Friends and Family
Five round Swiss, G30 or G25, d5
Awards:
- K5U500: Two team trophies, individual trophies to top 7 players and medals to all.
- U800: Two team trophies, individual trophies to top 7 players and medals to all.
- WSCF Open: Two team trophies, individual trophies to top 7 players and medals to all.
- Friends and Family: This division is for adults who want to play. Participants have the option of pairing with a student (friend, club member, son, daughter). A trophy will go to the top three students of the pair with the highest combined scores. Adults will register singly on the website. Please designate pairings by sending both names to: bob@wisconsinscholasticchess.org before the tournament if possible.
Wisconsin rated. WSCF reserves the right to change division parameters on the Friday before the tournament based on
who registers with the goal of creating 3 equal size divisions. Updated division lists will be emailed to registrants the night before
the tournament and posted at check-in.
Entry:
$20 per player for advance registration, $30 on-site registration. Checks payable to WSCF.
- Check-in from 8:00 to 8:45.
- Onsite registration closes at 8:30.
- Round 1 begins between 9:15 and 9:30.
- Onsite registration for round 1 ends at 8:15.
Pre-registrants arriving after 8:45 and on site registrations arriving after 8:30 can enter the tournament for round 2
Please check in as early as possible.

Raffle:
There will be a raffle for prizes. Prizes will include and not limited to chess board, chess clock, chess lessons and other prizes to be determined. The winner of the open division in addition to the championship trophy will receive a six box set of books by Yasser Seirawan. These include Endings, Strategies, Openings, Play winning chess, Tactics, and Brilliancies.
Lunch available for purchase at a reduced price.
Odds and Ends: Bring pencils and clocks if you have them. Notation books, Notation not required but encouraged.

WSCF has a no refund policy. If you have paid and cannot attend we hope that you consider the fee a donation to WSCF which is a 501c3 nonprofit. Thank you for your support. If WSCF cancels the event due to weather then there will be refunds.
