Adult Leaders Seminar – 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

WSCF invites chess coaches, club leaders, and parents to join us for a special Chess Club Leadership Seminar on Saturday, October 4. This event is designed to equip adults with the knowledge, tools, and strategies to successfully lead and grow scholastic chess programs in their communities.

About the Seminar

The seminar will be led by Bob Patterson-Sumwalt, who brings over 30 years of experience teaching, coaching, and organizing scholastic chess. Bob will share practical insights and lessons learned from decades of leading tournaments and building clubs across Wisconsin.

Topics include:

  • How to establish and sustain a chess club.
  • Strategies for motivating students and engaging parent volunteers.
  • Preparing students for tournaments and competitions.
  • Approaches for teaching beginning and intermediate students.
  • Practical advice on what to teach and how to teach it.

Location

The seminar will take place at the Old Guard Games meeting room, conveniently located behind Valentine Coffee in Milwaukee.
