WSCF to offer Regional Chess Club for Beginners
This club is for beginners aged 4–12 to participate in weekly meetings held on Fridays from January 23 through March 13. Instruction is provided by WSCF instructors through both individualized and small-group lessons. Participants are paired with peers of comparable skill levels during gameplay. Meetings take place from 4:30 to 5:30 PM at an Old Guard Games meeting room, located behind Valentine Coffee (which remains open until 6:00 PM). The club is designed for players who have limited tournament experience and ratings below 700. The eight-week session fee is $90, and additional sessions are offered in the spring, summer, and fall. Each session concludes with a tournament that awards trophies and medals.
