WSCF has partnered with three recreation departments and one local business to launch new community chess clubs. Nicolet Recreation, Greenfield Recreation, and Oak Creek Recreation will promote club registration in their fall catalogs, and Old Guard Games in Shorewood will also sponsor a club. Each club will be led by community members and taught by a WSCF chess teacher, giving students an opportunity to participate locally and compete together as a team in WSCF chess tournaments. These four new clubs join several existing clubs in the Milwaukee metro area, including Evangel Assembly of God, Hmong American Friendship Association, Siloah Lutheran School, Interior Castle, Morse Chess Club, Chargers of Sussex, and the Cudahy Chess Club. With these additions, WSCF will have 11 clubs participating, or preparing to participate, in chess tournaments.

Nationally, the United States Chess Federation allows teams to be formed by students who attend the same school. This rule helps prevent one club from attracting all of the strongest players and dominating team competition. So far, this has not been a problem in the Milwaukee area. For WSCF purposes, a club is defined as a group that meets weekly during the chess season and has a business or nonprofit sponsor. To be eligible to play on a club team, players must attend the club at least twice per month. The club addresses are listed below. All clubs will begin this fall on various dates, with Nicolet Recreation scheduled to start first on September 8.

Families interested in joining a club should contact the club directly using the information below. Start dates, meeting times, and registration details may vary by location.
