The Midwest Regional Championships inaugural event is a collaboration between the International Academy of Chess (IAC), Wisconsin Scholastic Chess Federation (WSCF), and Chess Club at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. This event will be four tournaments in one. There will be a WSCF scholastic with 3 divisions, a USCF scholastic with 3 divisions,a collegiate USCF with two divisions and an adult USCF with two divisions. The tournament will take place at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee Student Union on January 20, 2024.

WSCF Scholastic & USCF Scholastic Divisions

The scholastic tournaments will be five round Swiss, game 30. WSCF divisions will be K3u600, K8u100, and K12. USCF scholastic divisions will be U800, U1200, and Open. Round times are 8:45 a.m., 10:15 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:45 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and awards by 3:30 p.m. Ten individual trophies and five team trophies will be awarded in each division. 

Collegiate & Adult USCF Divisions

The collegiate and adult tournaments will be four round Swiss, game 60. Collegiate divisions will be U1200 and Open. Adult divisions will be U1600 and Open. Round times are 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. $500 in prize money to collegiate players and $1000 in prize money to adult players.

Registration & Entry Fees

Advanced registration and payment is through www.wisconsinscholasticchess.org. Cost is $35 before December 22 (scholastic only), $40 before December 29, $50 before January 5. Onsite registration fee for all divisions is $60 with cash payment or checks made payable to WSCF. There will be no refunds. Scholastic players registered by December 22 are guaranteed a sized t-shirt.
